Professional Levels and Business Roles

Professional Levels

Professional expertise is recognised at four consultant levels at Hamilton James & Bruce:

  • Consultant
  • Senior Consultant
  • Principal
  • Senior Principal

Hamilton James & Bruce also employ Resourcers, who support consultants in their chosen specilisation area.  Over time, they may be promoted into the consultant career stream should they so desire.  Many of our support staff have also been promoted to Resourcer, with the possibility of then moving into a consultant role if it’s the right fit for them.

Business Roles

In addition to a consulting role, our more senior employees are encouraged to consider taking on at least one of the other four types of roles in Hamilton James & Bruce:

Consulting Roles

HJB Way (Operating)

The HJB Way is our recruitment process and methodology, outlining the steps we follow when providing services to clients and candidates, along with the ‘how to’ go about this. 

Account Management

We have account managers dedicated to managing our key client accounts.  The dollar figures within this section indicate the size of the account that each consulting level can manage (a cross indicates that a consultant is not experienced enough to manage these sized accounts, a tick that they are able to manage these sized accounts).

Bid Management

We have a team who writes our tenders or bids for work with clients.  If you were to have Bid Management as part of your role, it would involve working with this team to produce the highest quality bid and then presenting this to clients.  The dollar figures within this section indicate the size of the bid that each consulting level can manage (a cross indicates that they are not experienced enough, a tick that they are able to manage these sized bids).

Segment Leadership

We have Segment Leaders who are responsible for facilitating communication and thought leadership throughout Hamilton James & Bruce nationally.  They are knowledgeable and experienced about the industry they recruit in (eg. Accounting, HR).

This role is only open to our most experienced Senior Consultants, Principals or Senior Principals.
