Learning and Development Programs
At Hamilton James & Bruce, we grow people. We create a learning environment that facilitates the development of the highest level of skill amongst all of our employees. This is achieved with on the job development and formal learning & development programs.
Learning and Development Programs
Hamilton James & Bruce leads the recruitment industry in the quality of our learning and development programs. Our dedicated People & Performance team manages the learning and development programs that are tailored to the needs of different people. An outline of Hamilton James & Bruce’s programs is as follows:
Orientation
Our four day orientation program introduces new starters to Hamilton James & Bruce. The goals of the program are to:
- Integrate all new employees into Hamilton James & Bruce’s environment in an effective manner.
- Give employees the tools and support to function effectively from their first day.
- Ensure employees are confident and comfortable in their new environment.
The program covers a range of topics including our vision, strategy and structure; an introduction to teams within Hamilton James & Bruce; and training in our recruitment process and providing high quality service to clients and candidates.
Management Development Program
We partner with Rogen International, a world-leading training organisation, to facilitate our five-day Management Development Program. The program focuses on business management, self-development and people management. It reinforces the concepts and develops skills in leadership, decision making and building high performance teams.
Sales Training
We train our consultants in consultative selling, using a leading methodology to help consultants become more influential communicators. It focuses on developing a business development strategy and building the communication skills needed to achieve quality outcomes.
Coaching Program
We have accredited coaches at Hamilton James & Bruce who work one-on-one with employees over a three-month period to assist them in setting and achieving work and life goals.
“A fabulous inspiring program that has provided me with the guidance and confidence to succeed and achieve my goals both personally and professionally".
"An innovative program - as far as I am aware none of our competitors are doing it."
"Gives a great opportunity both to gain exposure to senior managers within the organisation (an hour locked in their diary each week) and personally has forced me to action what I say I will in defined timeframes (it can be all too easy to procrastinate if what you need to do pushes you out of your comfort zone)."
Masterclasses
Subject matter experts within the business run Masterclasses during lunchtimes on recruitment topics that employees want to learn more about. It is an informal setting, where people get the opportunity to ask questions and learn from more experienced colleagues.
Development Review Program
The Development Review Program is a program designed to drive the performance and development of our employees. Annual development reviews, are based on two main components, the setting and completion of goals within the position and the demonstration of Hamilton James & Bruce’s high performance areas.
Other training
We are constantly reviewing the needs of the business and offering programs to suit. We recently held a financial awareness program ‘Money & the Life You Want’, assisting our employees to understand their money personality, deal with debt and build wealth.
On the job training and development
Learning and development at Hamilton James & Bruce doesn’t cease with our formal programs. We continue to provide on the job training and development through ongoing feedback and informal reviews based on individual’s goals, our reward and recognition program, promotion reviews and succession planning.
We also outline to employees the high performance attributes and related competencies that are expected of them, as well as the behaviours that contribute to success at each career stage within the company.
This helps everyone to understand what is required to progress their career at Hamilton James & Bruce and allows them to:
- Set priorities and goals for their contributions to business performance and their own development;
- Seek feedback about performance and behaviour, based on the ‘big picture’;
- Assess and guide their own performance throughout the year, and have a context in which to understand overall reviews; and
- Be confident of a consistent basis for fair and equitable recognition and remuneration decisions
